Eddy's Launch With Dad (Last Night)

Last night Dad thought it would be a nice night to go out on a launch on Mille Lacs and so I said OK and we headed over to Eddy's around 5PM. Being that we got to Eddy's early I brought rods to try for some smallies off the Jetty. As per usual this year, that was a bust. Dad and I went out on the Eddy's Flagship, which is the biggest launch on Mille Lacs Lake. Dad got me a spot on the back of the

Eddy's Launch Mille Lacs w/Dad and Don

Dad, Don W. and I went out on an Eddy's Mille Lacs Launch on a cool and blustery night (Wed). Hard to believe it was almost 100 degrees just a day before. Temps during the launch were in the low to mid 60's. When we arrived at Eddy's just after 5:30PM the Flagship (Eddy's biggest boat) was already gone and there was a long line of people waiting to pay. Usually that early there is just a

Another Night at Eddy's with GOMH Stop.

The night ban goes into effect tonight at 10PM, so that leaves two and a half over nights to take advantage of the Eddy's Jetty night bite. Sunday was sunny and warmer with a good wind out of the East and that East wind should be good for fishing the Eddy's Jetty which is on the West shore, but if you read my last report Saturday night was inexplicably a bust.I arrived at the Jetty around 9:30PM

Mille Lacs Gets Tough and GOMH Show

On Saturday the wind blew out of the East all day. Normally that makes Eddy's hot. It didn't. I arrived at 8PM and set up on the North Jetty Harbor Mouth. Much to my astonishment nothing happened. Finally at 10PM I went to chuck raps off the North jetty corner and that didn't work. The wind was about 5 mph less than last night. I went to the lighted bobber and a leech and got bit around

Gold Rush!!!

Lord Have Mercy! That was my reaction when I saw the conditions off of Eddy's Jetty. 10-15mph E SE wind so I went to the corner of the North Jetty. I thought it was going to be a serious whack fest, turns out the fishing was just OK.I started casting a couple of minutes past midnight throwing a purple perch Husky Jerk because I whacked them hard on that color in similar conditions in 2007 (and

GOMH Bullhead Slam!

Weather: Early this morning it was in the low 40's and rained/showered from 1AM to about 9AM; We got maybe a quarter inch. After that the day was partly cloudy giving way to sun occasionally and 60°F was the high.I headed out of the house after 7PM and was fishing by 7:30PM. When I arrived Lantern Man. and his brother in law were fishing one on the SE (LM) and the other on the SW. I moved my

Two True Mille Lacs Indian Point Stories

Over at Bass Parade they are asking about Weirdest Thing You Have Caught. Here are two of my true stories.I was out fishing the Fall night trolling bite on Mille Lacs for walleye on Indian Point. I didn't pay attention to how much line I let out and was past the Fireline into my backing point. A fish hit and my line broke where the knot between the Fireline and the backing line was. I always

What Was Your Best Fishing Moment of 2010?

This was the question asked on Facebook yesterday, by the guys at Wired2Fish.For me three things come to mind.May 23rd I caught this 20.25" smallie off of Eddy's Jetty. It is my personal best smallmouth bass.On May 24th Dad, Pete, and I went on a morning launch trip with Eddy's Resort. We were the only 3 customers that day so we got to go drift fishing with live bait rigs; Normally a launch trip

Eddy's Launch with Dad

Today Dad and I went on the 8AM-Noon Eddy's Launch. Conditions were overcast with some sprinkles with a Nw wind about 4MPH diminishing to about 2MPH by the time we left. Upon leaving the harbor we took a 30+ minute ride to a feature they call Tom's. Our captain Brian said it isn't on any map. All 3 launches went to this spot.About 3 minutes in my bobber went down, but when I set the hook my

Eddy's Launch With Pete

Today Pete and I went out on the Eddy's Morning Fishing Launch. The original launch we were scheduled to be on was from 8AM-Noon, but Eddy's was over run with people wanting to go out and called in a 2nd Captain to go out from 8:30AM-12:30PM. Pete and I jumped on that ship hoping there would be less people and when all was said and done there were maybe 4 or 5 less people on this 2nd launch.

Eddy's Launch with Dad & Pete/ Don's Dock Evening

Yesterday Pete found out that Eddy's is offering a good deal 7 days a week on their morning fishing launch trips; Cost is just $20 per person, normal launch price is $35. Pete and I made reservations and Dad decided he wanted to come along as well. It turned out the 2 others that were supposed to go on the launch didn't show, so it was just us 3 and the captain. We started out corking over

Mille Lacs Tonight

Pete is now back from Guard Training. We decided to head to Mille Lacs because conditions were supposed to be right to get fish off Eddy's Jetty. Unfortunately due to Pete and I taking a nap we were not on our way until right around 8PM. It would have been nice to be on the Jetty at 7PM because conditions were indeed good. While Pete was running an errand my bobber went down, but I missed it.

Mille Lacs in the early Afternoon

I had to pick up pills in Onamia today and it was overcast with a SE wind so I thought Eddy's Jetty might be worth a shot for walter. I arrived at Eddy's around 11AM and the wind just wasn't doing much, but it was over cast. A breeze started up and it started to rain and then out of nowhere there were gail force winds out of the SE. I got a bad tangle in my line that was unfix-able in the wind

Eddy's Launch with Dad and Don W.

Since the weather has been so nice this week Dad and I decided to go on a launch trip with Eddy's and we invited Don W. to come along with us, which he was plenty willing to do.The Eddy's night launch goes out from 6 to 10PM. Our Captain was Tom, who we have gone with at least once before and I think we had 12 people on Boat 8 which is a smaller launch that can hold up to 20. Two other launches

The Opener Closer

Minnesota Fishing Opener weekend was coming to a close and I had to make 1 last trip to Mille Lacs before the night ban sets in tonight at 10PM. I arrived at Eddy's at a quarter to midnight. There was a guy and his daughter fishing at the North Jetty harbor mouth, which is where I had planned to go. I ended up taking the center Jetty and fishing where I did last night.About 15 minutes in the

No Wind, No Problem!!! No Skunk!!!

I didn't get out of the house until after midnight last night and when I arrived at Eddy's on Mille Lacs there was no one fishing and it was dead calm. I headed out on the middle Jetty and started out by throwing Raps but that didn't last long. Next I put a leech on a Custom Jigs and Spins Glow Demon. After I lost 2 leeches with no apparent bites, I switched rods to a pink glow hook. Wouldn't you

A Fond MN Fishing Opener Memory

(5.5lbs Walleye Caught MN Fishing Opener 1985.) Pic from Little Jim's Bait Shop Annandale MNCertainly one of my most memorable MN Fishing Openers was in 1985, when I was 15 years old. Just like pretty much every year the 85' Opener was spent up at the family cabin on Sylvia/Twin Lake, now called East and West Sylvia, in Wright County Minnesota. Keep in mind growing up I was much more into bass,
