Great Night at the GOMH
It has been very warm the last few days and so I wanted to get out. Couldn't last night with Dad getting home from the hospital. Today I had to go to the chiropractor again (I went yesterday) and then had to organize tackle for the Fishers of Men Fall Outing. I wasn't able to head out until well after 5PM, so I didn't take to boat but went to the GOMH with the intention of fishing there and at

4AM Wake Up Call
Not to go to a fishing tournament, but to go to the hospital in St. Cloud and see my Dad before he has triple by-pass surgery this morning. It's been a pretty stressful last couple of weeks as my Dad has gone through a series of serious health issues, this latest being the worst.Yesterday was a really nice day and I got out for a couple of hours to try and take my mind off things. I got 7

GOMH & Jenny's
I headed out fishing around 4:30pm today. My first stop was the GOMH it was cloudy and windy out of the S SW. Around 5:30pm it started to sprinkle then light rain and the wind really came up for about 10 minutes. It then sprinkled off and on for the rest of the night with a pretty good wind.I started on the NE side and the first lure I tossed was the bubblegum Ebay Chatterjig and I got a 12"

Good Night At the GOMH
I headed out of the house a little before 7PM and my first stop was the Grumpy Old Man Hole. The wind was blowing pretty good out of the South. Per usual I set up on the NE side. I started out throwing something new; A watermelon/red Big Bite Baits Bio Bait Crawtube. The BBB Crawtube is made of a biodegradable plastic that has "Bio Bait" scent which is slimy and stinks. They are on sale at

2 Trips 2 Days 3 Fish
Yesterday I headed to the Grumpy Old Man Hole around 3PM. GOM Willard was there along with another older guy. There was couple fishing the SW side and the NW side they both has a few nice orange bullheads and the guy on the NW side said he got a jumpin bullhead. I couldn't get anything. I thought I might have had something pick up the Crawtube way under the bridge, but it let go right away.

GOMH Derby Fluke
This afternoon I wanted to get out to throw a Zoom Super Fluke and get more experience with the Trokar Flippen Hook. I headed out to the GOMH at about 5PM and started on the NE side. My first offering was the bubblegum Zoom Super Fluke and I caught a 12" jumpin bullhead right away. A little bit after that I missed a bite, which tore the nose up on the Fluke, so I had to go to the car to get

GOMH Morning Fun
I got out to the Grumpy Old Man Hole about 6:30AM and no current was moving. The water is even higher than last week and there is a sign as you go into Sullivan that asks for No Wake in Sullivan. I don't know if the lakes are all No Wake now or not. I started out fishing with a Think Tank Triggerfish on the NE side and I got this 14.75".
That was the only one I could get on topwater and

Fuego GOMH
I couldn't resist bidding on a couple of Team Daiwa Fuego reels that were spelled Diawa in their listings. The sellers error was my gain as I picked them up for an excellent price. I was the only bidder on both. They arrived yesterday and I had to try them out this morning.
Yes the new reels performed well and I landed some jumpin bullheads
I got 6x 14's"
4x 13's"

I started out throwing the Think Tank Lures Triggerfish on the NE side.BAM!I got 2 13inchers on the Triggerfish and I missed one hit.Next I threw a white Zoom Horny Toad. I had to work it subsurface to get the 13 incher I got on that. I also had a fish swirl on it subsurface.I tried the Dagored,

Baptised
My new St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass rod came through in the clutch tonight, sticking this 15.5" jumpin bullhead in the junk. It bit on a bubblegum Berkley Havoc Grass Pig. When I arrived John W. was just leaving and he said he caught 5 or 6, which I knew didn't leave much for me. I actually did miss one under the South of the bridge that took the Yellow Magic popper. Those were my only 2

Think Tank Triggerfish Triggers Bullheads @GOMH
It was a hot one yesterday and I stayed indoors in the air conditioning for most of the day. I planned to go fishing at 8PM, but a thunderstorm that was coming in made me head out around 7:15PM in the hopes of a pre-frontal throwdown. When I arrived at the Grumpy Old Man Hole the skies were getting dark and thunder and lightening were not to far off in the distance. As you can see on the video
Morning Shore Singles and Theft
I woke up this morning at about 5:45AM, so I decided to head out to do some fishing. The sun was already up and there wasn't a cloud in the sky and no current was moving through at the GOMH. I worked the North side and didn't get a bite. I switched to the SE side because there was a guy fishing for orange bullheads on the SW side. He was getting a few and told me he caught quite a few nice

Another GOMH Morning
After yesterday, you kind of had to figure that I would be at the Grumpy Old Man Hole again this morning. I actually slept all day yesterday until about 4:45AM this morning. I didn't get to the GOMH until about quarter to 6 and the sun was already up and no clouds. I started with the Think Tank Trigger Fish and then went to the Kelly J Jr. but the fish didn't want topwater. I switched to the

Visit to the GOMH
I'm trying to let my upper back heal up a bit so I haven't been fishing. Tonight I went to the Grumpy Old Man Hole but didn't bring a rod with. GOM Willard was there along with a couple of people fishing the SW side and a couple fishing the SE side. We had a lot of rain yesterday and the lake is now higher than it has been all Spring. A few lilly pads have come up to the surface and rice is

GOMH Oh Yeah!
Weather: Today was sunny and in the mid 60's with a breeze out of the NE about from 3 to 10. As I fished the wind would come and go.Tonight I arrived at the Grumpy Old Man Hole right about 5PM and I set up on the NE side. I started off throwing a clear smoke sparkle Berkley Havoc The Deuce double tail grub on a ball head jig and I was quickly rewarded with an 18 inch toothy bullhead.I didn't

Another Night at Eddy's with GOMH Stop.
The night ban goes into effect tonight at 10PM, so that leaves two and a half over nights to take advantage of the Eddy's Jetty night bite. Sunday was sunny and warmer with a good wind out of the East and that East wind should be good for fishing the Eddy's Jetty which is on the West shore, but if you read my last report Saturday night was inexplicably a bust.I arrived at the Jetty around 9:30PM

Mille Lacs Gets Tough and GOMH Show
On Saturday the wind blew out of the East all day. Normally that makes Eddy's hot. It didn't. I arrived at 8PM and set up on the North Jetty Harbor Mouth. Much to my astonishment nothing happened. Finally at 10PM I went to chuck raps off the North jetty corner and that didn't work. The wind was about 5 mph less than last night. I went to the lighted bobber and a leech and got bit around

Two Trips
Last Night I fished at the GOMH from 7:30-10PM. Weather was cool and cloudy with moderate wind out of the NW.I started out fishing on the bridge with GOM Bud. Bucketman was there on the SW side as were a couple of other people I recognized. The SE side was filled with people I didn't know. The action was pretty steady. I used a plain leadhead panfish tube jig head with a minnow. I got a

Bullheads- No Kidding Around!
Weather: We had thunderstorms in the morning or I would have gone out. The rain quit about 8:30AM. The day was cloudy, breezy, and mild with a high of 63°F.After a feast of silver bullhead for supper I headed out and arrived at the Grumpy Old Man Hole around 7:30PM. No surprise it was busy. Bud, the foul mouthed Grumpy Old Man was there, along with "Bucket Man" who now sits in a chair, a new
