2 Trips 2 Days 3 Fish
Yesterday I headed to the Grumpy Old Man Hole around 3PM. GOM Willard was there along with another older guy. There was couple fishing the SW side and the NW side they both has a few nice orange bullheads and the guy on the NW side said he got a jumpin bullhead. I couldn't get anything. I thought I might have had something pick up the Crawtube way under the bridge, but it let go right away.

Unimpressive Float Tube Fishing Trips Lately
Tonight I headed out of the house a bit after 7PM, it was cloudy warm and humid and conditions seemed right for the fish to be on. My first stop was Jenny's. Right away I got a bite but didn't hook up off to the right. I threw back and it boiled on it again. 3rd time was the charm and I brought in this skinny 16" class fish.I thought this was going to be a much smaller fish from the way it

Jenny's and Rock (Short Trip)
Tonight I wasn't off until after 7:30PM and my first stop was at Jenny's. Right away I nailed this 14.5" on a white Berkley Havoc Grass Pig. It took it off the surface. I let the fish take it down and felt it holding the bait, then I gave it the surge set and I had to fight it through some reeds to get it in. The Lamiglas Excel performed well on this one. I got one more weak bite at Jenny's

First Things First
I headed out tonight at about 6PM and my first stop was Rock Lake. Last year the ice was off area lakes before April 1st. The Rock Dock didn't go in until May 6th. This year the ice was off Rock Lake on Tuesday April 19th and the dock was in today. Go figure that one out.The Rock Dock didn't bring me any luck, not even a bite. I left at about 7PM to head to the Grumpy Old Man Hole.I parked on the

OH NO Not Again!
I started fishing at 6PM, nothing at Rock. Somebody put a bobber in a tree there today. Then I tried a few casts at Jenny's, nothing. So it was off to the GOMH. Nobody was there when I showed up at around 7:30PM. I decided to head to the NE side an fish into Platte. Pretty much nothing was going on and it was just about 8PM and I was throwing a Vampire Orange(red/black) Berkley Havoc Pit

Not Rockin!
Three consecutive days of Skunk. I think I missed a hit on both Tues. and Wed., but tonight I didn't even get a bite.Off to a slow start this year and the weather which has been sucky for a week plus isn't going to take a turn for the better until Easter Sunday. Hopefully some bullheads will show up then. Maybe I'll do something about getting the boat ready next week if the weather shapes up.

Wind, Rock Dock, Platte Lake
Today I left the house to go fishing at 4PM. When I arrived at Jenny's, the wind was blowing hard out of the W NW and I found it difficult to cast. Next I headed to the lake place which was a bit more protected and I worked the area from the dock. It was blowing a steady 20+ with gusts to 30 I'm sure. I made the decision that taking the boat out in that wasn't the best idea. Since the Rock

Morning GOMH, Bulldog, Rock
Grumpy Old Man Hole:I got 12 jumpin bullheads and the 6 toothy bullheads in pictures. All on swim jigs. I probably missed 2 or 3 more pike. The last 2 were the biggest. Bulldog Lake: I think the same pike got caught twice. Had to take a picture of the dink. Caught 11 bass from 8" to 13" on Bulldog on Swim Jigs. Missed a few hits.I also fished the Rock Dock and caught one small bass on my

No Wind, No Good!!!
Just like 2 years ago there was no wind at Eddy's Jetty on Mille Lacs and once again just like then, I got skunked. 3 or 4 eyes were caught by a group of 3 guys who were flinging clown Rapala Husky Jerks. Around 4AM a light breeze came up out of the SE, but it was to little to late for me. I had a minnow or leech on a lot of the time thinking that cranks just wouldn't go.Grumpy Old Man Hole:

GOMH & Rock Dock
Rain was in the forecast and so I headed out earlier than normal tonight, a little after 4:30PM. My first stop was at the GOMH. Nobody was there when I arrived.I caught this toothy bullhead on my very first cast.Check out the smile:I managed to catch a couple of jumpin bullheads and had what were probably orange or tiger bullheads pull the bobber down. I got these fish on the SW side (TB,JB)

Rock Dockage
After last night's snow the day turned out to be cool but sunny and I don't think it was as windy as forecast, but then again I didn't get out until after 6PM. My first stop was the Rock Dock. I talked to a guy who was coming off the water with his boat and he had gotten 8 crappies in a spot and then they turned off and he couldn't find anymore. The guys Grampa used to have a cabin on the lake

In The Water, On The Water
The weather is about to turn nasty for a couple of days so I figured I better get the boat with the new/used motor in the lake today when it was going to be reasonably decent outside. I had everything ready to roll around 6PM. Much to my amazement as I pulled in to the Rock Lake Public Access, the Rock Dock was in.The motor started right up and so I took her out for a spin to see how fast the

Not Much!
Tonight I headed out a little after 6PM because I needed to get minnows at Bear Traxx. My first stop was at Bulldog and I didn't get a bite.Next I went to Rock where I caught this one sunfish, I missed a few bites.I didn't get to the GOMH until close to 8PM and nobody was there. I managed to get this one toothy bullhead and a small jumpin bullhead and that was it.I am really wishing the MN

A Bit of Action
Tonight I got out of the house after 6PM and my first stop was Rock Lake. Today had been overcast with a little bit of rain, but by the time I was out the skies had cleared and there was a 5mph breeze out of the South. At Rock I hooked up with a couple of bass on a glow Cubby and a minnow. This little guy was followed by a 15 inch chunk that I didn't take a picture of. I think I may have caught

Just Fishin'
Tonight I got out right about 6PM and headed to Bear Traxx to buy my 2010 Fishing Licence. Once again this year I paid the extra money to get the optional walleye stamp and yes I paid the extra $2 on top of that to get the actual stamp. From Bear Traxx I hit up Bulldog but the wind was blowing in pretty good and nothing happened.Next I went to Rock Lake. Rock Dock still not in. I actually

Tonight's Fishing Report
Today I went to the Chiropractor and talked to him about my fishing related back pain issues and he is pretty sure he can do something about it. Getting some relief would sure be nice.Today was sunny and mild with fairly light winds, so I was hoping the fishing was going to start changing for the better. I got out of the house around 6PM and headed to Rock Lake.I started out by keeping my streak

Tonight's Adventures in Mini's...
I didn't get out of the house till after 6:15PM tonight and my first stop was at Bulldog Lake to try for Dogfish but the wind was blowing in pretty good and nothing was going on. Next I headed to the Rock PA where the "Rock Dock" is still sitting up on shore. This is getting ridiculous, the area docks were in the water at this time last year and the ice had not even been off the lakes for a

Rock & GOMH
After dropping off the filleted crappies at Jenny's I headed over to the Rock Lake public access, this was just after 5PM. For about 45 minutes nothing was happening then I caught this pike and bass within 10 minutes of each other but with casts in opposite directions. The Pike was about 23 inches and the bass was only 14.5" but super thick, a very healthy fish well over 2lbs. Both were caught

No Skunk For Me...
I thought for sure I was getting a skunk for the day. No activity at the GOMH and a wind from the wrong direction and no Rock Dock to fish from. Still I put my time in and fished all afternoon. I started out by checking for suckers, there weren't any. Then I headed to the GOMH as the sun was out and it was warm but windy out of the NE, which actually is a good direction for the South side of

Wide Open!!!
Wide open is the description of all the lakes I looked at today except Mille Lacs. Shakopee open, Bulldog open, Rock open, and yes even Sullivan open.My day started out with a trip to Onamia to pick up meds and check to see if the suckers were running in the Rum River just North of Shakopee Lake. Do you see any suckers in this picture:If you do your eye sight is better than mine. The river was
