Went over to Don's after 7PM last night. I stuck first blood with a pike, that I thought we were giving to Don, so I put it up in his yard. Turns out Don, didn't want it, so Pete took it. Will it get cleaned or not? That is the question. Don caught a few gills and Pete got skunked. There was a nice sunset with rays coming through the clouds.

Last Night Don's Dock Dogfish & My Experiment
Pete and I went to fish at Don W's after the days thunderstorms had moved through. My mission was simple. Try to catch a few fish on the Northland Tackle Jungle Jig Loc Jig. I had just bought these jigs at Reeds, to see how they would work with bass tubes. The first fish of the night was this dogfish caught by DonA little while later I felt a fish pick up the tube and set the hook into a 11

Eddy's Launch with Dad & Pete/ Don's Dock Evening
Yesterday Pete found out that Eddy's is offering a good deal 7 days a week on their morning fishing launch trips; Cost is just $20 per person, normal launch price is $35. Pete and I made reservations and Dad decided he wanted to come along as well. It turned out the 2 others that were supposed to go on the launch didn't show, so it was just us 3 and the captain. We started out corking over

Short Boat Trip on Platte
Weather: Today it got to 69°F and was partly sunny. By the time I got out fishing at 7:30PM the sun had escaped the overcast and was shining bright in the West while it was clouds overhead and to the east. There was a 5MPH wind out of the SE.As I got the boat ready to roll I had to replace a couple of trailers on swim jigs and I took a few casts with the new trailers. On my first cast with a

Nice Night on the Lake
I can't remember if I was on the water by 5PM or 6PM. I think it was a bit before 6PM. Tonight I put the trolling motor down and went in the other direction. Right off the bat I had a pike follow the all white Strike King Spinnerbait to the boat. About 2 docks down I got hit by a pike a couple of times but it didn't hook up. As I was going around the bend I picked up my first pike on the all

1 Sunfish Rock, Morning GOMH skunk
This morning I was up early so I went to the GOMH and got skunked, not even a bite.Tonight I got out after 8PM just as it started to sprinkle and I went to Rock Lake. I missed a few bites, but was eventually able to catch a 6" sunfish. No pic, cause I forgot the camera. The wind came up a little bit and I was getting cold and wet, so I was gone by 9PM.With rain in the forecast for tomorrow, I

Don's Dockage
(Don W. catches a sunfish)Tonight Pete was over for the evening and we decided to go fishing at about 7PM. Originally I was going to take us to the Rock Dock and GOMH, but Pete suggested we check in with Don W. and see if we could fish off his dock.Don was home and was generous enough to allow us to fish his dock. He has been catching lots of sunfish, perch, bass, and pike along with a few

Rock Dockage
After last night's snow the day turned out to be cool but sunny and I don't think it was as windy as forecast, but then again I didn't get out until after 6PM. My first stop was the Rock Dock. I talked to a guy who was coming off the water with his boat and he had gotten 8 crappies in a spot and then they turned off and he couldn't find anymore. The guys Grampa used to have a cabin on the lake

My first stop was at Bulldog and I didn't get a bite.Next I went to Rock where I caught this one sunfish, I missed a few bites.I didn't get to the GOMH until close to 8PM and nobody was there. I managed to get this one toothy bullhead and a small jumpin bullhead and that was it.I am really wishing the MN

A Few Bullheads...
I didn't put the Flash Card back in the camera and when I discovered this at the lake I elected not to take any pictures because I wasn't sure if I had the cord to connect the camera to the computer. Since I have gotten home a search has turned up no cord; So if I had taken pics, I wouldn't be able to share them.Anyway my first stop tonight was Rock Lake around 6:30PM and that was a bust; Rock

GOMH Report w/Pete
Pete went and did Guard stuff in St. Cloud and wasn't back by after 5PM so I headed out around 5:30PM. The Bulldog Lake access was occupied so I headed to the GOMH. Grumpy Old Man Willard was there sitting in his mini-van. An older couple was fishing on the SW side and a couple of teenagers were on the SE side. After talking to Willard for a bit I headed down to get a place on the rocks on

Two In a Row!
(Pete working his hot hole.)Yes it's true. I went out ice fishing for a 2nd day in a row and I actually caught a few fish today.Pete and I got out around 3:30PM today and we found our friend Don W. out in the sunfish spot. Don had been there since 1PM and had 4 sunnies in his bucket. We basically set up shop in the same general area as yesterday (at least Pete thought it was) and we didn't even

Yes I Did!
This is the photographic proof I was out on the ice fishing today on Sullivan Lake. The guy closest to the camera is Pete. We got out about 5PM and fished until dark. Pete caught 1 Sunfish and I got skunked. I think I had a few bites, but after 3 years off I am a bit rusty, plus we didn't have live bait and the fish seemed to be kind of fussy. The one Pete caught he got with the help of a
